Festival Season in Chicago

Festivus is upon us, only in July. And, you would only get that joke if you are a Seinfeld fan. Anyway, I visited the Midsommersfest in Andersonville today. A great cover band was playing named 7th Heaven. They played lots of good “tunes” from the 80s. Many of the booths had some great exhibits, too. My favorite being a booth which featured handmade rings with leather flowers on top. Really cool. I also stopped in a resale shop and bought a cabient - whoops! Not necessarily benefitting the artisans on the street, but hey, I need some organization in my room ASAP.

I heard there’s a good festival going on in the Printer’s Row district this weekend, too. Other than that, Wrigleyville is poppin’ with the Crosstown Classic: Cubs v. White Socks.

Ohhhhh yeah, and the World Cup! I watched the USA v. England game in a bar, Konak, in Andersonville. It wasn’t crowded, so that was pretty cool. Except it adds to the excitement when there’s more people around, too - cheering and booing and talking trash. This morning, I went with my boyfriend to watch Argentina v. Nigeria and the atmosphere was CRAZY. Mostly because most of the people were Americans getting drunk for the 1:30 game - but there, it was a bit more exciting. The bar was Fado’s Irish Pub. Cool place!
